![]() First: is local drive name showing in widows explorer which I can rename to whatever I want Hey guys, I've been following this thread for a little while, I have almost the same issue with an external wrelss hard drive : Seagate Wireless Plus originally 500 GB which I opened and upgraded the internal hard drive to 2 TB extracted from a Seagate back up plus slim external model: the issue is the upgraded Seagate Wireless Plus when hooked to the computer through USB 3.0 displays two names : You cannot make this file if there another file of the same name. "There is already a folder with the same name as the file name you specified. I still can't rename it.Ībout the cmd, I'll try it later and inform you if it work. I've tried your last option, renaming it with another pc but it wont do. Specify a different name" which is odd since i've already deleted the previous autorun.inf. Everytime i do so, a message pops out saying "There is already a folder with the same name as the file name you specified. If still not happen and you wanna change only the name of the drive, use another pc and rename it.įor some reason, i cant create a new autorun.inf. ![]() Unplug and plug in the USB drive to apply. Open the autorun.inf file, then type the following (press enter once done):Ħ. Right click on an empty space, click/tap on New and Text Document, then rename this file autorun.inf and press Enter.ĥ. Insert the USB drive that you want to rename and open.Ĥ. ![]() ![]() Change you known file extensions in View to "show hidden files and folder". The ? is the drive letter of the external drive.ġ.
